Three Forces

Every since my first encounter with the mystical Triforce on the NES gaming console back in the 90s, my fascination for conceptual forces never ceased. Thus I consider this works a mix of fan art, archaic archeology and an elemental conjuration spell.

Mut, Stärke and Weisheit are three separate small format mixed-media paintings. Gold leaf is applied on a water color paper background and afterwards fully immersed in Indian Ink (hue Leipziger Schwarz). Each painting shows a different abstract symbol – a geometric pattern designed upon a rigid grid. Each symbol is inspired by a totem animal, which in different animistic traditions seems connected to the specific quality which gives each artwork its name.
